Electronics Technician (Quantum Computing)

What you will do

• Design simple PCBs, including test circuits, breakouts, and adapters, using Altium or comparable tools.
• Assemble low-volume PCB prototypes and perform precise component rework, including surface-mount assembly.
• Set up electronics and electro-mechanical tests, operate test equipment, collect data, and support verification and debugging.
• Create basic mechanical CAD designs, 3D-printed parts, cable assemblies, and mechanical product assemblies.
• Source components and maintain inventories of components, tools, test equipment, and essential laboratory supplies.
• Support health and safety activities, risk assessments, SOPs, 5S audits, laboratory organization, and facilities coordination.

Requirements

• 5–10 years of experience working with electronics components, circuit boards, wiring, soldering, tools, and test equipment.
• Experience with stencil pasting, manual pick-and-place, reflow soldering, and other surface-mount assembly techniques.
• Ability to read and interpret electronics schematics and create basic PCB schematics and layouts using CAD tools.
• Confident use of DMMs, oscilloscopes, function generators, and other standard electronics test equipment.
• Experience building test setups, working with suppliers and contractors, and maintaining safe, organized laboratory environments.
• Degree or relevant experience in engineering, electronics, or a related discipline, together with strong communication and teamwork skills.

Nice to have

• Knowledge of digital and analogue electronics, including MCUs, I2C, SPI, FPGAs, ADCs, DACs, and filters.
• Experience with RF measurements and advanced equipment such as spectrum analyzers, vector network analyzers, and LCR meters.
• Experience with Altium, SolidWorks or comparable CAD tools, 3D part design, FDM printing, and design for manufacture.
• Ability to write or understand C-style or Python scripts and experience with inventory systems such as PartDB.
