Lab Technician (Quantum Computing)

Develops next-generation quantum computers intended to address complex problems across healthcare, aerospace, materials science, and other industries.

What you will do

• Support the assembly, integration, calibration, testing, and maintenance of quantum computing machines.
• Work with laser and optical systems, including functional testing, optical measurements, and alignment activities.
• Set up tests, organize temporary laboratory spaces, arrange equipment and materials, monitor experiments, and collect data.
• Use Python to automate routine tasks, process data, and plot results.
• Maintain and organize the laboratory, including stocking supplies and ensuring a clean working environment.
• Collaborate with quantum, optical, software, mechanical, and electrical engineers, physicists, and other technical specialists.

Requirements

• At least 2 years of experience in an engineering or research laboratory, or a high-tech R&D environment.
• Hands-on experience assembling and maintaining complex electronic, optical, and mechanical systems.
• Very good technical understanding of laser and optical systems.
• Ability to write Python code for routine task automation, data processing, and plotting.
• Independent troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
• Strong communication skills, teamwork, and flexibility in learning new areas of responsibility.

Nice to have

• Education or completed coursework in physics, optics, photonics, optical engineering, electrical or electronic engineering, mechanical engineering, mechatronics, engineering physics, or a related discipline.
• R&D experience with optical, electrical/electronic, or mechanical systems.
• Experience with lasers, optical components, alignment systems, beam alignment, and troubleshooting laser systems.
• Ability to read mechanical drawings and optical design or layout documents, and interpret design specifications.
• Experience with basic CAD tools, ultra-high-vacuum systems, or laboratory health and safety procedures.
