TL;DR
Mechanical Engineer 3 (NSSS Appurtenance Design) (Nuclear Mechanical Engineering): Developing and reviewing nuclear steam supply system components, systems, specifications, drawings, calculations, and testing requirements with an accent on ASME codes, 10 CFR requirements, inspection, and qualification testing. Focus on resolving complex multidisciplinary design issues, supporting licensing scope, and collaborating on domestic and international regulatory efforts.

Location: Remote within the contiguous United States, with national and local travel as required for business needs.

Target pay: $108,908–$131,441 annually; full pay range: $97,642–$152,722 annually.

What you will do

  • Perform system and detailed component design for the nuclear steam supply system.
  • Define plant system design, performance, inspection, and testing requirements.
  • Prepare, check, and review engineering reports, specifications, drawings, calculations, and related design documents.
  • Support Inservice Testing, Inservice Inspection, and Appendix J technical programs under 10 CFR 50.55a.
  • Support proof-of-concept and component qualification testing.
  • Collaborate with licensing and multidisciplinary engineering teams on technical issues and regulatory efforts.

Requirements

  • B.S. degree in Engineering from a four-year ABET-accredited college or university; Nuclear or Mechanical Engineering is preferred.
  • At least 5 years of relevant full-time professional experience.
  • Working knowledge of NSSS systems and components, ASME Codes and Standards, and 10 CFR 50.
  • Experience with nuclear utility or plant operations, NSSS system design, inspection and testing, and complex multidisciplinary design issues.
  • Strong technical writing, communication, organization, presentation, computer, and interpersonal skills.
  • Must be eligible to work under Department of Energy 10 CFR Part 810.

Nice to have

  • Professional Engineer license in Mechanical or Nuclear Engineering.
