Direct Home Portfolio Underwriting Lead

Location: Within the UK, with ad-hoc travel to Reigate; flexible working options are available.

Salary: £54,000–£80,000 per year.

What you will do

• Monitor direct home insurance portfolio performance and identify opportunities and risks.
• Shape underwriting strategy, risk appetite and sustainable growth plans.
• Provide underwriting input into pricing, footprint and distribution-channel decisions.
• Collaborate with Pricing, Marketing, Distribution, Claims, Fraud and Product teams.
• Analyse market trends, competitor activity and customer behaviour to support trading decisions.
• Present performance insights to senior stakeholders and lead, coach and develop a small underwriting team.

Requirements

• Experience managing and analysing home insurance portfolios.
• Strong understanding of underwriting, pricing and portfolio performance.
• Knowledge of direct, digital and price comparison website channels.
• Understanding of the UK home insurance market and regulatory environment.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, communication and stakeholder management skills.
• Previous people leadership or team management experience.
