TL;DR
Electronic Service Technician (Wind Energy): Installing components, maintaining, troubleshooting, and reporting on ENERCON wind turbines with an accent on electrical maintenance, fault finding, high-voltage switching, and safe work at height. Focus on servicing wind energy converters across UK sites, completing technical reports and maintenance schedules, and supporting teams during extended regional travel.

Location: Perth, United Kingdom; onsite. Regular travel to wind turbine sites across the UK, with possible travel to Germany and elsewhere in Europe. The role may require staying away from home for 2–3 weeks and includes climbing wind turbines regularly.

What you will do

  • Install and retrofit electrical components on wind energy converters.
  • Perform electrical maintenance, fault finding, repairs, and operational checks.
  • Climb wind turbines regularly and complete work safely at height.
  • Prepare weekly and monthly paper and digital reports, risk assessments, and method statements.
  • Manage van stock, materials, replenishment, and maintenance schedules.
  • After qualification, perform 35 kV high-voltage switching and related duties.

Requirements

  • Minimum Level 3 NVQ/SVQ qualification in Electrical or Engineering.
  • Completed time-served apprenticeship and previous commercial electrical or engineering experience.
  • Physical fitness and ability to climb and work at height regularly.
  • Full, clean driving licence and proficiency with IT packages, including Microsoft Excel.
  • Ability to work in a team, meet strict deadlines, communicate effectively, and travel across the UK and Europe.
  • Successful completion of mandatory training, including Wind Turbine Safety Rules, Electrical Part 1 and 2, and High Voltage Switching Level 1.

Nice to have

  • Previous experience in a similar role within the wind sector.
  • Mechanical maintenance experience.
