TL;DR
Equipment Maintenance Technician (Semiconductor Equipment): Maintaining and repairing wafer fabrication and epitaxy process equipment at a specialised III-V semiconductor facility with an accent on electrical, mechanical, vacuum, pneumatic, and RF systems. Focus on rapid fault diagnosis, preventative maintenance, hazardous gas and chemical systems, and improving equipment uptime across continental shifts.

Location: Caswell, Northamptonshire, United Kingdom. Onsite work in a cleanroom on a continental shift pattern: 2 days, 2 nights, 4 days off, with 12-hour shifts including weekends and bank holidays. Candidates must be eligible to work in the UK and have a full UK driving licence with access to personal transport.

What you will do

  • Provide first-line engineering response to reduce equipment downtime and production impact.
  • Repair, diagnose faults, and perform preventative maintenance on lithography, etch, PVD, PECVD, and MOVPE equipment.
  • Maintain vacuum, pneumatic, mechanical, electrical, RF, gas delivery, exhaust, and abatement systems.
  • Manage chemical and specialty gas systems in line with safety and environmental standards.
  • Manage critical spare parts and support OEE, uptime, Kaizen, 6S, and 8D improvement initiatives.
  • Participate in production meetings and the Site Emergency Response Team; forklift operation is required after training.

Requirements

  • Apprenticeship, HNC, HND, or degree in electrical or mechanical engineering, or at least five years of directly relevant complex electro-mechanical maintenance experience.
  • Experience in a high-tech, precision-engineering environment with strong electrical, electronic, and mechanical fault-finding skills.
  • Ability to work safely with hazardous gases and chemicals and follow detailed procedures with minimal supervision.
  • Competence in documenting procedures, risk assessments, and method statements; proficiency with Microsoft Office.
  • Must be eligible to work in the UK and able to meet medical and respiratory protective equipment face-fit requirements for SCBA use.
  • Full UK driving licence and access to personal transport are essential.

Nice to have

  • Experience in semiconductor or cleanroom manufacturing.
  • Background in aerospace, defence, automotive manufacturing, pharmaceuticals, oil and gas, power generation, or UK Armed Forces technical trades.
