Director, Commissioning (Data Centers)

Location: Dallas, TX; combination of office and field-based work with regular travel to active construction sites, operational facilities, and project locations.

What you will do

• Lead the commissioning function across new data center construction, campus expansions, acquisitions, and major infrastructure initiatives.
• Set commissioning strategy, staffing models, resource plans, execution standards, metrics, and governance processes.
• Manage commissioning resources and support hiring, onboarding, mentoring, performance development, succession planning, and organizational growth.
• Act as the owner representative and coordinate hirify.global, contractors, vendors, consultants, project teams, and third-party commissioning providers.
• Oversee testing, integrated systems testing, issue resolution, substantial completion, turnover, and operational readiness.
• Drive commissioning closeout, documentation control, turnover packages, risk escalation, and continuous process improvement.

Requirements

• 15+ years of relevant experience in commissioning, engineering, construction management, operations, project delivery, mission-critical facilities, or related technical disciplines; the minimum requirements also specify 8–10 years of commissioning experience.
• Experience leading commissioning programs, technical teams, or project delivery organizations in complex, multi-site environments.
• Strong knowledge of data center infrastructure, MEP systems, electrical and mechanical systems, controls, instrumentation, construction sequencing, testing methodologies, and operational readiness.
• Prior supervisory experience with the ability to assess issues, delegate resolution, manage competing priorities, and work under pressure.
• Experience with large-scale capital projects, technical construction programs, standards, documentation frameworks, metrics, financial models, cost analysis, and continuous improvement.
• Bachelor’s degree in engineering, construction management, operations, business, or a related field preferred; a master’s degree and commissioning credentials such as CxA, QCxP, or CCP are preferred.

Nice to have

• Experience with Bluebeam, Procore, CxAlloy, SharePoint, or similar project management, documentation, issue tracking, and commissioning platforms.
• Commissioning certification such as CxA, QCxP, CCP, or an equivalent credential.
• Master’s degree in a related field.
