TL;DR

Chief Engineer (Data Centers): Providing senior technical leadership and operational oversight for mission-critical electrical, mechanical, fire/life safety, and building management systems with an accent on procedural integrity, risk mitigation, and operational continuity. Focus on validating change requests, leading root cause analyses, coordinating vendors and infrastructure projects, and developing technical training for high-availability environments.

What you will do

Provide technical oversight for electrical distribution, UPS, generators, HVAC, chilled water, fire/life safety, and BMS systems.
Review change requests, validate SOPs, MOPs, and EOPs, and maintain accurate operational documentation.
Lead technical root cause analysis, emergency response, risk assessments, audits, and corrective actions.
Coordinate maintenance, vendors, infrastructure projects, upgrades, commissioning, and equipment turnover readiness.
Mentor operations personnel and develop training programs covering CMMS, controls systems, safety, and operational best practices.
Support customer and stakeholder communications, resource planning, vendor proposals, cost efficiency, and process improvement.

Requirements

5+ years of experience in data center operations or critical facilities management, including multi-site responsibility.
10+ years of data center operations experience may substitute for a bachelor’s degree; an engineering or operations management degree is preferred.
Strong knowledge of electrical systems including UPS, ATS, and generators; mechanical systems including chillers and TES; and BMS control systems.
Experience with SOPs, EOPs, compliance auditing, safety and regulatory standards, commissioning, and operational readiness.
Demonstrated operational leadership, risk management, technical training, coaching, and mentoring capability.
Ability to lead without formal authority, communicate clearly, and make solutions-oriented decisions in live operational environments.
