Sr Engineer - Henderson Building Solutions (Electrical Engineering)

Location: Washington, DC; Dallas, TX; or Phoenix, AZ, United States. Occasional travel of 10–15% and visits to project sites and construction environments may be required.

Salary: $139,200–$208,800 annually.

What you will do

• Lead electrical engineering and design projects from concept through construction completion.
• Direct the preparation and review of design documents, layouts, drawings, schematics, specifications, reports, and analyses.
• Perform engineering calculations, evaluate systems and equipment, and develop solutions to complex design challenges.
• Coordinate with clients, contractors, architects, and multidisciplinary project teams, including construction-site visits.
• Oversee project quality, scope, schedule, cost, design standards, and technical coordination.
• Mentor engineers and designers, guide technical staff, and support client relationships and business development.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in a relevant engineering discipline preferred; alternatively, 12 years of relevant experience with a high school diploma or equivalent.
• Active Professional Engineer (PE) license required.
• Relevant technical certifications or accreditations, such as BEMP, CPD, CDP, NICET, or RCDD, required.
• Expert knowledge of engineering design, A&E practices, applicable codes, design guides, and industry standards.
• Working knowledge of construction processes, construction methods, contracts, earned value, Revit, and Bluebeam Revu.
• Strong communication, critical-thinking, problem-solving, collaboration, prioritization, and mentoring skills.

Nice to have

• Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering and completion of the Fundamentals of Engineering exam.
• LEED, WELL, CDP, or other sustainability-focused credentials.
• Experience designing electrical systems in a design-build environment, including mission-critical, data center, or VHT projects.
• Engineer of Record experience and familiarity with AutoCAD, Autodesk Construction Cloud, Procore, or ClickUp.
• Experience supporting business development and client relationship development.
