Senior Software Safety Engineer (Autonomous Vehicles)

What you will do

• Perform hazard identification and risk assessments, including HARA, FMEA, FTA, and STPA, for autonomous software architectures and vehicle operations.
• Derive, specify, and trace functional, technical, and software safety requirements for supervised and driverless autonomy.
• Analyze perception, motion planning, localization, and vehicle control modules under ISO 26262-6 and SOTIF ISO 21448.
• Define monitoring and fail-safe mechanisms within multi-core Linux and RTOS environments.
• Review safety-critical C++ and Python code and robotics middleware with systems, software, robotics, hardware, and test teams.
• Develop safety performance indicators and support safety-case artifacts and verification evidence for airport deployment.

Requirements

• 5+ years of hands-on safety engineering experience in autonomous vehicles, automotive, aerospace, or industrial safety.
• Experience with autonomous driving systems or mobile robotics.
• 5+ years of software development or software safety experience with C++, Python, or ROS/ROS2.
• Deep knowledge of software safety lifecycles, ASIL decomposition, unit and integration testing, and static analysis tools.
• B.S. or M.S. in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Systems Engineering, Robotics, or a related discipline.
• Experience analyzing autonomous vehicle software pipelines, including perception, planning, and fail-safe state machines.
