What you will do
- Develop, maintain, and implement operational safety concepts, plans, requirements, processes, and work products for autonomous vehicle testing.
- Lead safety risk assessments and evaluate test results to create risk mitigation plans.
- Provide data analysis, safety metrics, and real-time safety support for autonomous vehicle operations.
- Support accident and incident response, mishap investigations, corrective action plans, and safety readiness reviews.
- Review system specifications, software development and test plans, procedures, reports, change proposals, and deficiency reports for safety impacts.
- Collaborate with product development, engineering, service, maintenance, regulatory, and fleet operations teams to close system- and component-level safety gaps.
Requirements
- Bachelorβs degree in Computer Science, Robotics, Electrical Engineering, or a related technical field with 4+ years of relevant experience, or a masterβs degree with 0β3+ years of experience.
- Knowledge of automotive, heavy-duty truck, or aerospace products and industries, with professional experience in automotive or surface transportation safety.
- Experience or theoretical knowledge of systems engineering, HARA, DFMEA, FTA, and/or STPA.
- Experience with project management, vehicle program management, product development lifecycles, and project planning.
- Experience with requirements management tools such as JAMA and documenting, reviewing, and approving safety requirements.
- Strong problem-solving, analytical, communication, interpersonal, organizational, and ethical decision-making skills.
Nice to have
- Experience with robotics, autonomous vehicle operations, or complex electromechanical systems integration.
- Experience using ROS, C++, or Python.
- Experience with systematic safety assessments, compliance auditing, vehicle root-cause analysis, and safety engineering analyses.
- Proficiency with ISO 26262, IEC 61508, and ISO 21448.
