QA Automation Engineering Lead (API Gateway)

Location: Columbus, OH, United States; office workplace type. Applicants must be currently authorized to work full-time in the United States. Huntington does not provide immigration or work-permission sponsorship.

Salary: $70,000–$140,000 annual base compensation, plus eligibility for an applicable incentive compensation plan.

What you will do

• Own and drive the test automation vision, roadmap, standards, governance, and quality metrics for the API Gateway platform.
• Design and maintain scalable, reusable automation frameworks and test harnesses for API, integration, regression, performance, and security testing.
• Build automated validation for API proxies, security policies, routing, authentication, authorization, traffic management, and enterprise integrations.
• Integrate automated testing into Azure DevOps and CI/CD pipelines to support reliable platform releases.
• Lead testing for platform enhancements, upgrades, production fixes, disaster recovery exercises, and production verification.
• Mentor engineers, promote shift-left and automation-first practices, and collaborate with developers, architects, product owners, and platform teams.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in computer science, information systems, engineering, or a related field.
• At least 7 years of experience in software QA, automation engineering, or quality engineering, including at least 5 years designing and implementing automated test frameworks.
• Experience testing REST APIs, microservices, and distributed systems.
• Experience with Postman, Karate, Rest Assured, Selenium, Playwright, Cypress, or equivalent automation tools, and programming in Java, JavaScript, Python, C#, or similar languages.
• Experience working in Agile and DevOps environments and integrating automated testing into CI/CD pipelines.
• Must be authorized to work full-time in the United States; immigration and work-permission sponsorship is not available.

Nice to have

• Experience with Apigee, Apigee X, Kong, Mulesoft, Azure API Management, or similar API Gateway platforms.
• Experience with GCP, Azure, or AWS cloud platforms.
• Knowledge of OAuth, OpenID Connect, JWT, mTLS, API security controls, and certificate management.
• Experience with JMeter, Gatling, LoadRunner, or equivalent performance testing tools.
• Experience validating resiliency, disaster recovery, business continuity, and platform upgrades.
