Automation Hardware and Robotics Reliability Engineer (Robotics)

Location: Richmond; primarily on-site in a high-bay warehouse. Occasional off-shift or weekend work is required, and relocation assistance is not offered.

Salary: $84,674–$127,010 per year.

What you will do

• Monitor, troubleshoot, and continuously improve automated warehouse equipment and supporting control systems.
• Develop, modify, and validate PLC logic in collaboration with hardware vendors.
• Lead root cause analysis for equipment failures and implement durable corrective actions.
• Support the integration, commissioning, and upgrading of hardware components and subsystems.
• Partner with maintenance, logistics, engineering, leadership, and vendors to improve uptime and reliability.
• Drive continuous improvement using Lean, 5S, and Kaizen methodologies while maintaining KPI data in Power BI and SAP.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Electrical, or Mechatronics Engineering, or equivalent warehouse automation experience.
• Professional experience in industrial automation, robotics, or warehouse systems.
• Proficiency in PLC programming and control systems.
• Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills.
• Ability to read and interpret electrical and mechanical drawings.
• Ability to work primarily on-site and support occasional off-shift or weekend production and maintenance needs.

Nice to have

• Familiarity with high-density storage systems and WMS/WES platforms.
• Experience with Lean or Six Sigma methodologies.
• Experience supporting AGV/AMR fleets.
