TL;DR
Manufacturing Process Engineer (HTS Magnet Manufacturing): Developing and industrializing manufacturing processes for high-temperature superconducting magnet coils with an accent on precision winding, insulation, impregnation, joining, tooling, and quality control. Focus on translating magnet designs into repeatable production processes, leading prototype-to-serial-production transitions, and solving yield, quality, and cycle-time issues.

Location: Munich, Germany; on-site

Company

hirify.global is a deep-tech fusion company developing the hardware and infrastructure for commercial stellarator fusion power plants, with teams across Munich, Zurich, and Oxford.

What you will do

  • Develop, qualify, and improve manufacturing processes for high-temperature superconducting magnet coil winding, insulation, impregnation, and joining.
  • Translate magnet designs into repeatable, high-yield production processes and represent manufacturing requirements in DFM/DFA design reviews.
  • Design, procure, and validate tooling, fixtures, and jigs for precision winding and assembly of non-planar coil geometries.
  • Define assembly sequences, work instructions, SOPs, visual aids, process controls, and inspection methods.
  • Lead NPI campaigns, process trials, pilot builds, prototype-to-production transitions, and hands-on shop-floor support.
  • Drive root-cause analysis, corrective actions, supplier qualification, engineering change control, and Lean/Six Sigma process improvements.

Requirements

  • 3+ years of experience specifying, procuring, installing, commissioning, and qualifying production equipment or automation for component manufacturing or assembly lines.
  • Experience owning RFQs, managing suppliers, conducting FAT/SAT, and supporting production ramp-up.
  • Hands-on experience designing tooling and fixtures for low-volume, high-precision production, with proficiency in CAD such as SolidWorks or CATIA and knowledge of GD&T.
  • Experience writing work instructions, SOPs, and process documentation in production or NPI environments.
  • Knowledge of process control, statistical methods, SPC, FMEA, and structured root-cause analysis including 8D.
  • Strong communication skills in German or English and a Bachelor's or Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Materials Science, or a related field.

Nice to have

  • Experience with PLM systems such as Arena or Enovia and MES platforms such as Tulip or Delmia.
  • Experience transitioning research designs into products and scaling processes from prototypes to serial production.
  • Experience working in a startup or other fast-moving manufacturing environment.

Culture & Benefits

  • Work at the frontier of fusion energy and advanced manufacturing technology.
  • Build production lines, tooling, and processes from the ground up.
  • Work in a small, fast-moving, diverse international team.
  • Contribute directly to the development of superconducting magnets and commercial stellarator technology.

Hiring process

  • Recruiter interview lasting 30–60 minutes.
  • 30-minute technical screening followed by a technical panel with three 60-minute interviews.
  • 30-minute CEO call.
