Survey Crew Chief (Land Surveying)

Location: Florham Park, NJ / New York, NY; on-site. Travel to various project sites and overnight stays may be required.

Pay range: $42–46/hour starting rate, commensurate with experience, with room for advancement.

What you will do

• Lead survey crews performing pipeline, boundary, ALTA, topographic, stake-out, and utility surveys.
• Collect, download, process, and quality-control conventional and GNSS field data.
• Research, recover, and measure real property evidence; prepare field notes, photographs, sketches, and detailed reports.
• Coordinate project tasks directly with project managers and represent the company when working with public and private clients and the general public.
• Maintain and calibrate survey equipment, vehicles, and related schedules.
• Train junior team members and follow all safety and security procedures.

Requirements

• At least 2 years of experience as a survey field party chief.
• Experience with boundary, topographic, utility, pipeline surveying, and construction stake-out.
• Ability to perform surveys from boats and all-terrain vehicles.
• Experience operating electronic total stations, GNSS, and levels.
• Self-starter able to work independently, with strong leadership and supervisory skills.
• Valid driver’s license with an acceptable driving record.
• Willingness to travel to project sites and stay overnight when required.
• Successful completion of a pre-employment drug test and compliance with random drug and alcohol testing.

Nice to have

• Associate’s degree in land surveying or equivalent.
• AutoCAD and field-data processing experience.
• Current Operator Qualifications for pipeline probing and depth-of-cover surveys.
• Project experience with pipeline and utility companies.
• LSIT certification.
• Hydrographic survey experience.
• Experience operating laser scanners and UAVs.
