Survey Crew Chief (Land Surveying)

Location: On-site in Florham Park, New Jersey, or New York, New York, with travel to project sites in New York and New Jersey and occasional overnight stays.

Salary: $40.00–$44.00 per hour starting rate, depending on experience.

What you will do

• Lead survey crews performing pipeline, boundary, ALTA, topographic, stake-out, and utility surveys.
• Collect, download, process, and quality-control conventional and GNSS field data.
• Research, recover, and measure real property evidence, and prepare field notes, photographs, sketches, and reports.
• Coordinate project tasks directly with project managers and represent the company when working with public and private clients.
• Maintain and calibrate survey equipment and vehicles.
• Train junior team members and follow all safety and security procedures.

Requirements

• At least 2 years of experience as a survey field party chief.
• Experience with boundary, topographic, utility, pipeline, and construction stake-out surveys.
• Ability to conduct surveys from boats and all-terrain vehicles.
• Proficiency with electronic total stations, GNSS, and levels.
• Valid driver’s license with an acceptable driving record, independent working ability, and strong leadership skills.
• Willingness to travel to project sites and stay overnight when required; pre-employment and random drug and alcohol testing applies.

Nice to have

• Associate’s degree in land surveying or equivalent experience.
• AutoCAD and field data processing experience.
• Pipeline probing or depth-of-cover operator qualifications and pipeline or utility company project experience.
• LSIT certification or hydrographic survey experience.
• Experience with laser scanners and UAVs.
