Geomatics Technician I (Reality Capture Data Processing)

Location: Remote, associated with Arlington, Virginia; occasional fieldwork and travel up to 50%.

What you will do

• Import, register, and perform QC on scan projects in Leica Register360 and Cyclone.
• Support point cloud registration and processing in NavVis Ivion and progressively take ownership of related data production workflows.
• Review OPUS reports, control point observations, aerial photogrammetry, drone imagery, orthomosaics, dense point clouds, and DSMs/DTMs.
• Identify and implement automation for file handling, standardized outputs, QA/QC, and point cloud processing efficiency.
• Improve file organization, delivery standards, documentation, traceability, and repeatability of datasets.
• Assist with terrestrial 3D laser scanning, control surveys, topographic surveys, existing-conditions surveys, field coordination, equipment maintenance, and safety procedures.

Requirements

• B.S. in engineering, geomatics, or a related technical field, or equivalent experience.
• At least 2 years of experience in a technical, data-intensive, or built-environment-adjacent role, including project controls or field surveying.
• Proficiency with data workflow tools appropriate to the role, such as scripting, database, or automation platforms.
• Strong documentation habits and QA/QC discipline, with the ability to learn specialized software quickly.
• Valid driver's license.
• Comfort with occasional fieldwork and travel up to 50%.

Nice to have

• Hands-on land surveying or site engineering experience.
• EIT certification or an equivalent technical credential.
• Exposure to LiDAR, photogrammetry, or point cloud concepts.
• Experience with project controls tools.
