Research Scientist II, Gene R&D (NGS)

Location: Piscataway, New Jersey, United States; fully onsite

Salary: $70,000–$90,000 per year, dependent on experience

What you will do

• Develop and optimize high-throughput sequencing library preparation methods.
• Design customized library preparation workflows for different sequencing platforms.
• Generate, analyze, interpret, and present biological data to broader teams.
• Manage project timelines and coordinate internal resources to advance projects.
• Collaborate with other teams to support smooth technology transfer.

Requirements

• PhD in molecular biology, biochemistry, chemistry, or a related field.
• More than two years of relevant experience developing scalable NGS workflows in the pharmaceutical or biotechnology industry.
• Direct experience designing customized library preparation methods for Illumina and ONT platforms.
• Broad knowledge of molecular biology and microbiology, with the ability to apply scientific interpretation to solve problems.
• Hands-on experience building and using standard and customized bioinformatics pipelines, analyzing biological datasets, and working with FASTQ, BAM, and VCF files.
• Proficiency in at least one programming language: Python, R, or Java.

Nice to have

• Experience with high-throughput NGS library preparation for clinical samples.
• Experience with cell-free protein expression.
