What you will do

• Collect and resolve past-due consumer loans, credit cards, residential mortgages, overdrafts, and negative account balances.
• Manage delinquency follow-up, notices, settlements, loan extensions, and loan modification documentation.
• Notify co-signers and guarantors, perform skip tracing, and recommend accounts for repossession or legal action.
• Review accounts for collection agency placement and manage the liquidation of repossessed collateral.
• Monitor delinquency trends, prepare monthly collection and recovery reports, and recommend policy or procedure updates.
• Maintain compliance with applicable laws, regulations, policies, procedures, and Bank Secrecy Act standards.

Requirements

• High school diploma.
• At least 2 years of collections experience, including knowledge of the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act.
• At least 2 years of experience with federal and state laws and regulations affecting financial institutions, including NCUA, TILA, ECOA, BSA, SCRA, and FCRA requirements.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, decision-making, communication, and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to interpret and apply complex and changing collections requirements while maintaining confidentiality and discretion.

Nice to have

• Bachelor’s degree.
• Collections experience within a credit union.
• Familiarity with credit union system terminology and acronyms.
