Outreach Specialist III (Commercial Loan Collections)

What you will do

• Manage an assigned portfolio of delinquent commercial loans, mortgages, leases, lines of credit, credit cards, and overdrawn deposit accounts.
• Contact customers and guarantors through outbound and inbound calls and email to assess repayment prospects.
• Work with relationship managers, branch representatives, sales teams, management, and business partners to determine repayment and loss mitigation strategies.
• Recommend accounts for non-accrual, charge-off, or transfer to the Workout/Special Assets team based on delinquency and risk factors.
• Assess collateral type and value, investigate accounts, conduct skip tracing, and thoroughly document loan relationships and recommendations.
• Monitor business and market trends and follow applicable compliance, operational risk, audit, and regulatory controls.

Requirements

• Combined three years of higher education and/or work experience, including at least one year of collections, customer service, or sales experience.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills and a detail-oriented approach.
• Experience with word processing, spreadsheet, and presentation software.
• Ability to spend a large percentage of time speaking with customers by phone.
• Preferred: bachelor’s degree and two years of collections experience.
• Preferred: knowledge of commercial, revolving credit, or overdraft products; financial statements, analysis, collateral valuation, and M&T Bank systems.
