Automation Engineer II/I (Cross AP)

Location: Lexington, Massachusetts, United States; conditions also mention Clayton, North Carolina. Travel of up to 10% may be required.

What you will do

• Ensure new processes and equipment comply with local, global, business, quality, and regulatory standards.
• Collaborate with local and global project teams and equipment vendors to define requirements and interface agreements.
• Develop and execute plans to maintain, improve, and qualify process control systems.
• Develop automation standards, specifications, maintenance plans, SOPs, and best practices.
• Support audits and inspections as a subject-matter expert, and coach colleagues and stakeholders.
• Apply systematic problem-solving, process improvement, project management, change management, and risk-mitigation practices.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in engineering or a related field, or equivalent experience.
• At least five years of engineering experience in process-based manufacturing, utilities, or packaging systems; alternative experience pathways are available with a high school diploma or equivalent.
• Knowledge of SAP EM, PLC, DCS/SCADA, MES, Oracle, MS SQL databases, and historians.
• Demonstrated expertise in planning, organization, project execution, follow-up, and completion.
• Ability to work in an open-office environment and travel up to 10% of the time.

Nice to have

• Experience with warehouse automation equipment, including automated storage and retrieval systems, automated guided vehicles, autonomous mobile robots, and conveyor systems.
• Knowledge of SAP EWM, general controls, and cLEAN or Six Sigma methodologies.
