Automation Engineer (Biopharma)

Location: Swiftwater, Pennsylvania, United States; on-site support for manufacturing automation systems.

What you will do

• Support and oversee automated process control systems used in licensed biopharmaceutical manufacturing and clean utilities.
• Integrate automation systems with digital applications for production, quality control, data management, historians, and ERP systems.
• Develop specifications, test protocols, design documents, change controls, and validation deliverables in line with GMP and regulatory standards.
• Monitor, troubleshoot, and improve PLC, SCADA, DCS, building automation, and related control systems to minimize downtime.
• Lead design reviews, user acceptance testing, risk management, process deviation investigations, and continuous improvement initiatives.
• Coordinate contractors and collaborate with manufacturing, engineering, quality, IT, facilities, supply chain, and tech transfer teams; provide rotating off-shift on-call support.

Requirements

• At least 2 years of direct experience with automation systems and automation support in biopharma or a related industry is preferred.
• Knowledge of DCS, including DeltaV; SCADA, including Aveva; PLCs; OPC; machine connectivity; and data acquisition into higher-level applications.
• Bachelor’s degree in engineering, electrical, chemical, mechanical, automation, computer science, biotechnology, or a related technical field; relevant experience may substitute.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, communication, and cross-functional collaboration skills.
• Written and spoken English proficiency is required.
• Availability for rotating off-shift on-call support is required.
