TL;DR
Automation Technician III (Pharmaceutical Automation) (Process Control Systems/PLC): Maintaining, troubleshooting, repairing, and improving process control systems supporting aseptic pharmaceutical production with an accent on hardware, PLC programming, system uptime, and preventive maintenance. Focus on solving production downtime, implementing control-system improvements, coordinating installations with vendors, and maintaining compliance with CGMP, safety, and quality standards.

Location: Onsite in Lexington, Massachusetts, or Clayton, North Carolina, United States. The role requires facility-based work, including standing for up to 12 hours, handling equipment, working around manufacturing environments, and occasionally working at heights or in confined spaces.

What you will do

  • Support the operation, maintenance, and system management of process control systems.
  • Troubleshoot process downtime, control-system hardware, PLC programming, interfaces, and related IT systems.
  • Perform routine, preventive, and predictive maintenance and support equipment installations.
  • Develop and execute maintenance and improvement plans in coordination with production schedules.
  • Coordinate technical clarifications and problem-solving with suppliers, vendors, contractors, and internal stakeholders.
  • Implement process improvements, maintain training readiness, and ensure systems comply with quality, change-management, CGMP, safety, and environmental standards.

Requirements

  • Associate’s degree in Electronics, Computers, Engineering, or a related field plus at least eight years of automated or process control system experience; alternatively, a high school diploma or GED plus at least twelve years of relevant experience.
  • Proficiency in supporting and maintaining process control systems and troubleshooting automated or IT system issues.
  • Experience with one or more of PLC systems such as Rockwell or Siemens, HMI, PCS/DCS such as DeltaV or iFix, Historian systems such as OSI PI or iBatch, SCADA, MES such as Syncade or PAS-X, and MS SQL.
  • Proficiency in PLC programming troubleshooting and Microsoft Office, including Outlook, Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
  • Ability to work overtime or different shifts as business needs require and collaborate with cross-functional teams in a production environment.
  • Ability to meet the physical requirements of the manufacturing facility and follow CGMP, safety, environmental, quality, and change-management requirements.
