Process Technician, Electrical (Biopharmaceutical Manufacturing)

Location: Onsite full-time at the GMP manufacturing facility in Clayton, Melbourne, Australia; not eligible for remote work.

Moderna develops mRNA medicines and is building a large-scale mRNA vaccine manufacturing facility in Melbourne as part of its long-term Australian biotech partnership.

What you will do

• Supervise and coordinate routine, non-routine, follow-up, and emergency electrical work orders through the computerized maintenance management system.
• Coordinate the specification, fabrication, procurement, installation, and engineering start-up of new equipment and systems.
• Troubleshoot electrical equipment and control systems hands-on or through external service providers.
• Act as the electrical subject matter expert for deviation investigations, CAPA, audits, and corrective actions.
• Develop electrical procedures, safe work methods, site standards, and qualified-trainer materials.
• Support reliability programs, spare-parts planning, quality metrics, documentation, and rotating on-call coverage for 24/7 operations.

Requirements

• A Grade Electrical License or a Bachelor of Engineering in Electrical Engineering or an equivalent qualification.
• 3–5 years of relevant experience in a regulated environment; cGMP experience is preferred.
• Experience maintaining and troubleshooting electrical supply and distribution systems, sensors, instrumentation, pneumatics, and drives in biopharmaceutical production.
• Advanced troubleshooting experience with PLCs, HMI/SCADA systems, VSD/servo drives, and instrumentation.
• Knowledge of GMP, regulatory requirements including TGA, FDA, and EMA, equipment validation, electrical safety, CMMS, and technical documentation.
• Full-time onsite availability at the Melbourne facility, including rotating on-call support and possible pre-employment and periodic medical assessments.

Nice to have

• Experience in sterile manufacturing.
