Senior BI Developer (Microsoft Fabric & Power BI)

Location: Remote-first across CET/CEST or SAST-aligned time zones. Core collaboration hours are 10:00–16:00 CET/CEST. Occasional client visits are required, normally several times per year and no more than once per quarter. Developers based outside Germany must attend working sessions at the Gilching headquarters at least twice a year.

What you will do

• Build, test, document, deploy and maintain BI and data products using Microsoft Fabric, Power BI and Azure.
• Deliver lakehouses, data warehouses, pipelines, notebooks, SQL objects, semantic models, DAX calculations and reports.
• Translate defined business needs into technical stories, delivery steps and reliable sprint commitments.
• Discuss technical topics directly with client IT and business stakeholders, explain trade-offs and present delivered solutions.
• Use AI tools, LLMs, automation platforms, bots, copilots and agents to create practical data products and improve development, analysis, documentation and quality workflows.
• Identify data-landscape improvements, raise delivery risks early and contribute reusable documentation to the internal knowledge base.

Requirements

• At least four years of BI or data-platform development experience, including direct work with clients or business stakeholders.
• Strong experience with Azure data platforms, including Microsoft Fabric, Azure Data Factory or Synapse.
• Practical knowledge of lakehouses, data warehouses, pipelines, notebooks, SQL, dimensional modeling, star schemas and ETL/ELT patterns.
• Professional Power BI experience, including semantic modeling, DAX and report development.
• Experience with agile delivery, structured stories, estimates, sprint commitments, Git, testing, deployment and maintenance of production data products.
• Fluent written and spoken English is required. Daily use of AI tools and accountability for output quality are expected.

Nice to have

• Experience building AI-driven data products, bots, copilots, agents or automation for real business use cases.
• Experience with LLMs, small language models, LLM APIs, agent orchestration, n8n, Make, OpenClaw, Claude Code, Cowork, Hermes or comparable tools.
• Databricks experience and Python or PySpark for data engineering, automation or notebook workflows.
• German at B2 level or above for DACH client communication.
• Client-facing project experience and active knowledge sharing.
