Data Engineer – Business Intelligence (BI) (f/m/d)

Location: Karlsruhe, Germany, with home office options, flexible working hours, and relocation service for candidates living outside Germany.

What you will do

• Integrate new data sources, design data models, and build scalable end-to-end data pipelines for analysts and business teams.
• Translate business requirements into reusable, documented data models in collaboration with stakeholders.
• Evolve the data warehouse landscape using Dagster, dbt, Python, Trino, Impala, S3, GitLab, SQL databases, and Tableau.
• Operate and stabilize pipelines by investigating incidents, resolving data quality issues, and running historical or long-running computations.
• Maintain and modernize the SQL Server environment through refactoring, performance tuning, capacity planning, backup strategies, and data center migrations.

Requirements

• Degree in Computer Science or a comparable qualification gained through practical experience.
• Hands-on experience in Data Engineering or BI, including end-to-end pipeline design, implementation, and operations.
• Structured approach to root-cause analysis and sustainable problem-solving.
• Interest in understanding business domains, exploring new technologies, and enabling others with reliable data foundations.
• Professional proficiency in English and German required.
