What you will do

• Design and implement recombinant production strategies for polytopic membrane protein targets.
• Purify membrane proteins into stable formulations and perform detailed analytical characterization.
• Conduct laboratory experiments with rigorous documentation and a strong focus on quality.
• Analyze and interpret scientific data for audiences with varied scientific backgrounds.
• Collaborate with scientists to define methods, resources, timelines, and milestones for discovery projects.
• Advise supervisors and colleagues on membrane protein technology development strategies.

Requirements

• Ph.D. in Biochemistry, Biophysics, Chemistry, Molecular Biology, or a related discipline; or a master’s degree with 2 years of relevant laboratory experience; or a bachelor’s degree with 4 years of relevant laboratory experience.
• Independent experience designing, executing, and interpreting experiments, supported by a strong publication record and first-author publications.
• Expertise with KTA systems and analytical methods for membrane protein characterization, including HPLC/UPLC, SEC, fSEC, spectroscopy, or mass spectrometry.
• Strong written and oral communication skills, leadership ability, and effective teamwork in a fast-paced environment.
• Ability to work onsite in South San Francisco, California.

Nice to have

• Ph.D. plus 0–2 years of relevant postdoctoral experience.
• Expertise in structural biology or the dissection of membrane protein molecular pharmacology.
