Claim Specialist - Property Field Inspection

Location: Durango, Colorado; candidates must reside within the listed service territory and attend in-person field appointments. The role is primarily field-based, with work from home and occasional travel to other territories.

Salary: $63,089.65–$90,000 annually, with potential yearly incentive pay of up to 15% of base salary.

What you will do

• Conduct on-site inspections of residential and commercial property damage, including accident- and weather-related claims.
• Investigate and adjust personal and commercial property claims with exposures up to $500,000.
• Evaluate coverage, policy terms, regulations, and evidence to determine claim validity.
• Document findings, estimate damages, and prepare detailed claim reports.
• Work with policyholders, agents, and other stakeholders to resolve claims and provide customer service.
• Negotiate and settle claims within authorized limits and applicable policy and company guidelines.

Requirements

• Ability to investigate problems, analyze information, interpret policies, and make well-supported decisions.
• Strong communication, interpersonal, organizational, analytical, and customer-service skills.
• Proficiency with mobile and desktop tools for documenting claims in the field and remotely.
• Physical agility to lift, carry, climb ladders, navigate roofs at various heights, and crawl in tight spaces.
• Valid driver's license required.
• Successful completion of required training, proficiency and licensing exams, motor vehicle record checks, background checks, and possible pre-employment assessments.

Nice to have

• Bachelor's degree in a related field or equivalent property claims experience.
• Knowledge of property insurance policies, coverage, and claims handling practices.
• Knowledge of residential and commercial building construction.
• Water mitigation inspection experience.
• Experience with Xactimate and XactContents.
