Location: Detroit, Michigan, serving Wayne, Oakland, and Macomb Counties. Hybrid field schedule, Monday–Friday, 8:30 AM–5:30 PM EST, with travel to homes, repair facilities, and other field locations; occasional overnight travel may be required.
Salary: $70,000–$85,000 annual base salary, plus an annual company bonus incentive.

What you will do
- Review and investigate assigned homeowner and catastrophe property claims, including complex coverage issues.
- Inspect property damage and prepare, review, and validate damage estimates using claims software.
- Evaluate losses, policy benefits, exclusions, applicable state law, recovery potential, and claim payment amounts.
- Communicate with insureds and other affected parties, set expectations, negotiate settlements, and resolve questions.
- Document, code, and close claim files while creating sub-claims and referring cases to underwriting, recovery, or special investigation units when necessary.
- Monitor contractor repair status and support claim file reviews and training when requested.
Requirements
- Completion of the ACG Claim Representative Training Program or equivalent knowledge or experience.
- Three years of experience or equivalent training in claim settlement negotiation, evidence evaluation, estimating, subrogation, coverage resolution, statements, and claim planning.
- Eligibility to obtain a state adjuster’s license within 90 days of hire where required.
- Valid state driver’s license and ability to safely operate a motor vehicle for field inspections.
- Advanced knowledge of Michigan insurance law, fair trade practices, subrogation, intercompany arbitration, simple litigation, and building construction and repair techniques.
- Ability to travel outside the assigned territory, work evenings or weekends, walk on roofs, climb ladders, and lift up to 25 pounds.
Nice to have
- Associate degree in business administration, insurance, claims, management, or a related field.
- CPCU coursework or designation and Xactware training.
- Homeowner claims handling experience, including personal property, additional living expense, water loss, fire, or smoke claims.
