Location: Remote within any of the lower 48 U.S. states. Occasional travel may be required to visit clients or attend meetings.
Salary: $49,100β$91,300 annually. Expected starting salary range: $49,100β$73,700 annually.

What you will do
- Underwrite new business, renewals, and endorsements for low- to moderate-exposure commercial lines policies within granted authority.
- Gather information from multiple sources and analyze individual risks, total account relationships, acceptability, pricing, and coverage.
- Manage complex account workflows, documentation quality, processing systems, service-level agreements, and assignment timelines.
- Consult with agents, agencies, field sales, and internal partners on underwriting matters, products, processes, and business development opportunities.
- Negotiate price and coverage where appropriate and strengthen agency relationships through responsive service and technical support.
- Educate internal and external partners on underwriting practices and tools, and support the training of less experienced underwriting staff.
Requirements
- Typically one year of underwriting or equivalent experience preferred; an undergraduate degree may be considered in lieu of experience.
- Bachelorβs degree or equivalent work experience preferred.
- Knowledge of commercial underwriting policies, practices, procedures, rating plans, commercial insurance processing systems, and insurance products.
- Ability to analyze insurance risks, determine acceptability and pricing, evaluate problems, and recommend solutions.
- Knowledge of state and federal insurance laws and regulations, plus the ability to advise agents on commercial contracts, procedures, and business practices.
- Strong verbal and written communication, customer service, organization, time management, and computer skills.
Nice to have
- Prior exposure to property and casualty commercial lines.
- Completion of INS, AU, or similar insurance designations.
