MSL/Senior MSL, Specialty (Washington, DC) (Medical)

Location: Field-based within DC, Maryland, Delaware, and Eastern Pennsylvania; candidates must live in the territory or be willing to self-relocate there. Travel up to 75% of the time is required.

Salary: $124,500–$236,500 per year, plus benefits and eligibility for long-term incentive programs.

What you will do

• Act as a field-based scientific expert and primary communicator of AbbVie science within the assigned therapeutic area and territory.
• Build and maintain relationships with thought leaders, academic centers, researchers, and healthcare professionals.
• Present scientific information on disease states, therapeutic landscapes, and AbbVie products throughout the product lifecycle.
• Support research initiatives, including site evaluation, investigator recruitment, investigator meetings, expert identification, and external collaborations.
• Answer unsolicited medical questions, provide medical information support, and deliver training to medical affairs, field sales, and other internal personnel.
• Collaborate with cross-functional and commercial teams on account plans, strategic segmentation, resource utilization, compliance documentation, and budget management.

Requirements

• Advanced degree required, such as PharmD, MD/DO, PhD, Physician Associate, or Nurse Practitioner, in a relevant scientific or clinical discipline; a doctorate is strongly preferred.
• Relevant experience typically ranges from 0–2 years for an MSL and at least 3 years for a Senior MSL.
• Strong clinical, scientific communication, presentation, teaching, interpersonal, planning, and organizational skills.
• Ability to analyze and translate territory and corporate needs, learn and communicate technical information, and work independently and collaboratively.
• Proficiency with Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and other software; compliance with healthcare industry representative credentialing requirements, including possible background checks, drug screens, and immunization or vaccination proof.
• Must live in or be willing to self-relocate within DC, MD, DE, or Eastern PA.

Nice to have

• Experience in endocrinology, metabolic health, obesity, or gastroenterology.
