Cloud Systems Engineer

Location: Remote, United States; all work must be performed within the United States. US citizenship is required.

Salary: $160,000–$190,000 per year, plus bonus and equity package.

What you will do

• Administer AWS and Azure environments, including virtual machines, networks, storage, governance, high availability, backups, and disaster recovery.
• Own the Microsoft 365 and Entra ID tenant, including Exchange Online, SharePoint, OneDrive, Teams, licensing, access policies, and user lifecycle management.
• Manage endpoint compliance, configuration, patching, and device lifecycle through Intune.
• Design Terraform-based infrastructure and automate operational workflows with PowerShell, Bash, Python, and Microsoft Graph API.
• Implement cloud security monitoring, vulnerability remediation, SIEM integrations, and policy-as-code guardrails.
• Administer AI platforms including Anthropic Claude, ChatGPT, AWS Bedrock, and Microsoft 365 Copilot, while governing access, data controls, and spend.

Requirements

• 5+ years of experience in systems administration, cloud operations, or infrastructure engineering.
• 3+ years administering AWS in production and 2+ years administering Microsoft 365 with real tenant-level administrative rights.
• Production experience with Microsoft Azure, Terraform, PowerShell, Bash, or Python.
• Strong knowledge of IAM, encryption, network segmentation, Linux, and Windows Server in cloud environments.
• Experience with defense-sector security requirements and compliance frameworks such as NIST SP 800-171, CMMC, FedRAMP, or SOC 2.
• US citizenship is required, and all work must be performed within the United States.

Nice to have

• Microsoft 365 GCC High, AWS Control Tower, Landing Zones, or Azure Landing Zone experience.
• Container platforms including Docker, ECS, EKS, or AKS.
• Cloud, Microsoft 365, or security certifications.
• Splunk or Microsoft Sentinel experience and administration of AI platforms at tenant or account level.
• Active DoD Secret clearance or eligibility to obtain and maintain one.
