TL;DR

Location: Huntsville, Alabama, United States; onsite at the Huntsville office

What you will do

  • Research, design, modify, develop, and evaluate mechanical systems, products, components, and applications.
  • Apply mechanical engineering principles across design, development, integration, implementation, analysis, and testing.
  • Validate vendor equipment through test-method development, performance testing, and documentation of results.
  • Conduct final system performance tests, analyze data, and participate in design reviews and evaluations.
  • Lead projects to completion by developing schedules and ensuring technical performance is achieved within cost.
  • Collaborate with engineering disciplines, manufacturing personnel, management, vendors, customers, and subcontractors.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering or a related science, technology, or engineering discipline.
  • At least 7 years of relevant mechanical engineering or related experience.
  • U.S. citizenship is required.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a DoD security clearance.
  • Working knowledge of CAD and CFD software; experience with SolidWorks is preferred.
  • Knowledge of stress, strain, thermal management, mechanics of materials, engineering drawings, testing, and technical documentation.

Nice to have

  • Master’s degree in engineering or a related discipline.
  • Experience with high-energy lasers, directed energy, optical systems, precision pointing, beam control, or electro-optical systems.
  • Knowledge of military specifications, CAD/CAM systems, manufacturing process development, and DoD systems engineering processes.
  • Experience supporting Army, Navy, Air Force, or OSD high-energy laser programs.
  • Ability to work in agile development, active laboratory, independent, and collaborative environments.
