Software Engineer (C++)

Location: Lexington, Massachusetts, United States; on-site work with the possibility of a remote arrangement. Travel up to 10%, typically within the continental United States.

Salary: $156,400–$180,000 USD annually for Massachusetts.

What you will do

• Define software architecture for large-scale communications system demonstrations.
• Design and implement system software, primarily in C++.
• Develop communication protocols and state machines with system designers.
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to prototype communications-based software.
• Design integration tests and support laboratory and field experiments.
• Prepare software architecture documentation, technical specifications, reports, and presentations.

Requirements

• Active DoD Secret clearance required.
• Master’s degree in Software Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field, or a bachelor’s degree with at least 6 years of directly relevant experience.
• At least 5 years of experience with C++, Java or JavaScript, object-oriented development, source control, UML, software deployment, and software lifecycle processes.
• At least 5 years of experience with real-time code development, code profiling, algorithm development, performance improvements, design patterns, and data structures.
• At least 5 years of experience with distributed systems, interprocess communication, Linux or commercial real-time operating systems, hardware abstraction layers, and DevSecOps.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills and the ability to work effectively in multidisciplinary teams.

Nice to have

• Experience with digital signal processing and implementing communication protocols and methods in software.
• Familiarity with software-defined radio and physical, MAC, and network layer protocols.
• Proficiency in Python and familiarity with MATLAB.
• Experience planning and managing tasks or projects with tools such as Microsoft Project.
