Senior Staff Software Systems Engineer

Location: Westminster, Colorado, United States. U.S. Person status is required, defined as a U.S. citizen, permanent resident, asylee, or refugee. Certain work may also be subject to U.S. export control and ITAR requirements.

Base pay in Colorado: $128,000–$170,000–$187,000 annually, plus incentive eligibility.

What you will do

• Serve as the technical authority for a product or major product evolution.
• Define system architecture and technical direction across multiple engineering teams.
• Lead architecture reviews, trade studies, technical decisions, system decomposition, interface definition, and integration planning.
• Manage architectural, integration, schedule, and operational risks across the product lifecycle.
• Resolve cross-team technical conflicts, improve engineering practices, and mentor senior engineers.
• Guide products from concept through integration, validation, operational readiness, and customer deployment.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Systems Engineering, or a related technical discipline, or equivalent practical experience.
• Significant experience designing and delivering complex software-intensive systems.
• Experience serving as a technical lead across multiple engineering teams.
• Strong understanding of modern software architecture and distributed systems, including APIs, data architecture, resiliency, observability, scalability, security, and operational readiness.
• Experience leading architecture reviews, technical trade studies, system integration, and cross-team dependency management.
• Excellent communication skills with engineers, product managers, customers, and senior leadership.

Nice to have

• Experience with cloud-native platforms, Kubernetes, event-driven architectures, and platform engineering.
• Experience with AI-assisted software development workflows.
• Background in systems-of-systems, model-based or digital systems engineering.
• Experience with high-availability or mission-critical software, operational readiness, and production deployment.
