TL;DR
Network Architect and Solutions Engineer (MILSATCOM): Designing and assessing satellite communications backhaul and network transport architectures for US Space Force systems with an accent on requirements development, enterprise integration, and interoperability. Focus on analyzing space, ground, and terrestrial network performance, resolving interface gaps, and supporting acquisition, verification, and operational acceptance.

Location: On-site in El Segundo, California, United States

Basic compensation: $150,000–$187,000 per year in California

What you will do

  • Advise government leadership on MILSATCOM backhaul, network transport, and SATCOM-enabled services.
  • Develop and review network requirements, CONOPS, technical performance parameters, interface requirements, diagrams, and technical documentation.
  • Assess prime contractor architectures, system trades, technical risks, and architectural alternatives across space, ground, terrestrial, and enterprise environments.
  • Plan and support integration of SATCOM systems with DoD infrastructure, DISA transport services, and Service-specific networks.
  • Analyze bandwidth, latency, availability, redundancy, resiliency, routing, switching, and interoperability impacts.
  • Support acquisition, design reviews, testing, verification, validation, operational acceptance, and technical interchange meetings.

Requirements

  • Active Secret security clearance.
  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering, mathematics, physics, computer science, or an equivalent technical discipline.
  • 10+ years of experience supporting military communications or network systems acquisition and/or operations.
  • 5+ years of experience in development, research, or advanced engineering environments supporting government programs.
  • Experience in SETA, SEIT, FFRDC, or government advisory roles involving space and/or networked systems.
  • Expertise in MILSATCOM architectures, networking CONOPS, technical requirements, DoD network environments, and independent contractor-solution analysis.

Nice to have

  • TS/SCI eligibility or active clearance.
  • Master’s degree in a relevant technical discipline.
  • Experience with SDN, VNF, modern network management, software development, or network automation.
  • Experience with DISA architectures, transport services, DoD acquisition, and systems engineering processes.
  • CSEP, ESEP, PMI, or PMP certification.
