Systems Design Engineer - Government (Satellite Communications)

Location: Remote within the United States, excluding North Dakota, Vermont, and Rhode Island. Travel may be required up to 10%.

Salary: $120,500–$190,000 annually. For specific work locations in San Jose, the San Francisco Bay Area, and the New York City metropolitan area: $149,500–$224,500 annually.

What you will do

• Generate and manage requirements for government connectivity products and platforms.
• Define system-level architectures and detailed system and subsystem design solutions.
• Translate high-level product requirements into implementable designs with Product Management, engineering leads, and customers.
• Collaborate with development teams to iterate system designs throughout the product lifecycle.
• Evaluate performance, security, functionality, scalability, and interoperability across large systems of systems.
• Support hardware and software product success from early definition through product maturity.

Requirements

• 5+ years of experience in systems engineering design and requirements management, preferably involving data platforms, cloud applications, satellite communications, or networking.
• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or equivalent experience.
• Solid understanding of full-stack development frameworks and underlying data, backend, cloud, SATCOM, and networking infrastructure.
• Ability to develop system design requirements covering performance, security, and functionality.
• US citizenship required.
• Must be able to obtain a United States Secret Clearance.

Nice to have

• Agile software development experience.
• Understanding of DoW CONOPs, users, and operating environments.
• Experience with data science, data processing, or AI/ML.
• Familiarity with Jama, MBSE processes, or Cameo.
