Material Analysis Lab Technician (Semiconductor Manufacturing)

What you will do

• Perform hands-on material and failure analysis supporting silicon process development and high-volume manufacturing.
• Prepare and characterize wafer- and unit-level samples using micro-cleaving, ion milling, etching, mechanical polishing, SEM/EDX, FIB, and TEM techniques.
• Collect data on thin-film material structures and properties using laboratory analysis equipment.
• Identify physical failure modes and support root-cause analysis for process, performance, and reliability issues.
• Develop improved tools, best-known methods, and sample-analysis techniques to increase laboratory quality, efficiency, and output.
• Support laboratory equipment, advanced transistor and interconnect technology development, and new process or product ramps in high-volume manufacturing.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Materials Science or a STEM field related to semiconductor manufacturing and 2+ years of maintenance experience, or an associate degree in a related STEM field and 4+ years of maintenance experience.
• 5+ years of experience working in a semiconductor manufacturing or laboratory facility.
• Experience with laboratory techniques and materials characterization.
• Experience with one or more of AFM, X-ray analysis or diffraction, surface analysis, electron spectroscopy and imaging, SEM/TEM/EDX, or FIB techniques is highly desired.
• This role requires on-site work in Hillsboro, Oregon, United States.
