Salary: $48,200–$83,200 per year, determined by qualifications, experience, and location.

What you will do

  • Perform SEM-based failure analysis for yield, reliability, and semiconductor manufacturing investigations.
  • Prepare samples through mechanical cleaving, polishing, focused ion beam milling, and wet and dry chemical etching.
  • Select and optimize SEM imaging conditions to produce high-quality analytical data.
  • Analyze and document results with guidance from engineers and senior laboratory staff.
  • Collaborate with failure analysis engineers on investigation strategies and sample preparation.
  • Maintain laboratory tools, follow procedures, support continuous improvement, and operate equipment safely.

Requirements

  • Associate’s degree in engineering, physics, materials science, electronics, semiconductor manufacturing, mathematics, or a related discipline, or equivalent military technical training.
  • 2–4 years of relevant technical laboratory or manufacturing experience.
  • Strong problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and ability to learn technical concepts and operate complex equipment.
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills.
  • Fluent English required for written and verbal communication.
  • The role may require obtaining a U.S. Department of Defense Security Clearance.

Nice to have

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering, physics, materials science, electronics, semiconductor manufacturing, mathematics, or a related discipline.
  • Experience with scanning electron microscopy or other microscopy techniques.
  • Experience in a semiconductor fab, cleanroom, or technical laboratory.
  • Familiarity with sample preparation, failure analysis, materials characterization, or process troubleshooting.
  • Experience with technical data documentation and reporting.
