Dispatcher - Night Shift (Autonomous Vehicles)

Location: On-site at hirify.global's Lancaster, Texas terminal; base shift 11:00 PM–7:30 AM CT, with flexible start and end times, extended shifts of up to approximately 14 hours, weekends, and holidays.

hirify.global is building generative AI for the physical world, starting with autonomous trucks, and operates Texas road operations for R&D testing and revenue freight.

What you will do

• Curate, assign, and adjust test and commercial missions for optimal fleet utilization and compliance with FMCSA Hours of Service limits.
• Monitor mission execution, autonomy health, fleet stability, and active crews, adapting priorities as conditions change.
• Operate the communications desk, maintain availability, answer the hotline, coordinate handoffs, and communicate with customers, facilities, site contacts, and carrier partners.
• Serve as the first line of response for incidents, provide remote troubleshooting, make go/no-go decisions, pause critical autonomy operations, and coordinate escalation.
• Maintain accurate mission records, logs, completion verification, delay reason codes, and exemption requests across Jira and the hirify.global App.
• Lead, coach, assign, assess, and develop Fleet Specialists, including final on-road trainee sign-off following Test Operations Lead review and approval.

Requirements

• 2+ years of experience in dispatch, fleet operations, mission control, or a highly technical operations center environment.
• Ability to lead or supervise others; direct people-management experience is preferred because the role has direct reports.
• Experience with Linux, scripting, coding such as Python, or computer terminals, plus the ability to troubleshoot hardware and software errors.
• Strong coordination, problem-solving, written communication, judgment under ambiguity, and ability to manage complex real-time workflows and competing priorities under pressure.
• Familiarity with DOT and FMCSA transportation regulations, particularly Hours of Service, sufficient to plan compliant missions.
• Experience working in a technical or testing environment.
• Strong technical proficiency with fleet management software, dispatch and routing tools, and telematics platforms, with the ability to learn autonomous-vehicle troubleshooting tools quickly.
• Ability and willingness to work the described night shift, including flexible start and end times, shifts of up to approximately 14 hours, weekends, and holidays.

Nice to have

• Prior autonomous vehicle experience or direct work with engineering teams.
• Experience running a communications desk or operations center on an overnight or 24/7 rotation, or serving as the senior decision-maker on a shift with limited escalation support.
• Direct customer or shipper communication experience in a time-critical freight environment.
• Familiarity with Jira, Fleetio, Motive, or comparable platforms.
• Class A CDL or hands-on Class 8 operational experience.
