Principal Category Manager (Data Center Cooling)

Location: Remote (United States)

Salary: $169,000–$208,000 plus bonus and sign-on equity grant.

What you will do

• Develop and execute multi-year global sourcing strategies for mechanical cooling systems, optimizing capacity, quality, and total cost of ownership.
• Manage executive-level relationships with Tier-1 and Tier-2 cooling OEMs, driving capacity expansion, technical innovation, and supplier performance.
• Lead negotiations for Master Purchasing Agreements, Capacity Agreements, and SLA frameworks.
• Align cooling technology roadmaps with Data Center Design Engineering, Operations, and Construction teams for future compute architectures, including high-density AI/HPC workloads.
• Map multi-tier supply chains and mitigate single-point-of-failure risks, lead-time bottlenecks, and geopolitical constraints.
• Monitor commodity prices, refrigerant regulations, market trends, and vendor capacity to support executive decisions.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Supply Chain Management, Business, or a related technical discipline.
• 10+ years of strategic sourcing or supply chain management experience, including at least 5 years in critical data center infrastructure, industrial HVAC, or heavy mechanical capital equipment.
• Deep technical and commercial knowledge of chillers, CRAHs, AHUs, liquid cooling, cooling towers, and CDUs.
• Experience structuring complex, high-value contracts and capacity reservation agreements with global OEMs.
• Strong cross-functional leadership, communication, and executive presentation skills.
