Software Development Manager (AI)

Location: Toronto, ON, Canada

Salary: CAD 140,000–205,700 starting base salary for Canada-based roles; offers may exceed this range.

What you will do

• Lead, hire, mentor, and develop a high-performing software engineering team.
• Set priorities, manage performance and career development, and build an inclusive ownership-driven engineering culture.
• Drive quarterly and multi-quarter delivery planning, roadmaps, dependencies, risks, trade-offs, and stakeholder communication.
• Provide technical direction for web applications and services using JavaScript, React, Node.js, Express, databases, AWS, and serverless technologies.
• Own the Account Portal migration to Experience Builder and guide experimentation, personalization, identity, and conversational-AI account experiences.
• Promote scalable, secure, reliable engineering practices, including automated testing, CI/CD, observability, production readiness, and AI-assisted development.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s or master’s degree in computer science, engineering, or a related technical field, or equivalent practical experience.
• 10+ years of software engineering experience, including hands-on development and production delivery.
• 2–4 years of engineering leadership, people management, or technical team leadership experience.
• Hands-on experience with JavaScript, React, Node.js, Express or similar modern web technologies, databases, AWS, and serverless architectures.
• Experience with CI/CD tools such as Jenkins or Argo CD, software design, code reviews, automated testing, secure coding, and engineering best practices.
• Ability to collaborate across Product, Program, Architecture, Design, and engineering teams while managing delivery, priorities, dependencies, risks, and stakeholder expectations.

Nice to have

• Experience with account management, subscription management, commerce, or SaaS platforms.
• Experience with LaunchDarkly or equivalent experimentation platforms, controlled A/B rollouts, personalization systems, and conversational AI or LLM-based customer experiences.
• Familiarity with OAuth, federated identity, AWS services, Docker, Kubernetes, GitOps, Terraform, CloudFormation, or AWS CDK.
• Experience with observability, incident response, production support, proof-of-concept development, and developer productivity automation.
• Hands-on use and responsible adoption of AI-assisted coding tools such as Cursor, Claude Code, or GitHub Copilot.
