Engineering Manager, Product (AI)

Location: Hybrid in Vancouver, BC, Canada, or remote within Canada

Total compensation: CA$165,000–CA$275,000 for Vancouver-based employees; CA$165,000–CA$250,000 for remote employees in Canada. Includes equity.

What you will do

• Manage two product engineering teams, including Engineering Leads and individual contributors.
• Lead 1:1s, performance reviews, career development, and people growth across different levels and working styles.
• Shape architecture and technical direction with Engineering Leads while reviewing significant technical decisions.
• Support prioritization, ruthless scoping, and incremental delivery of business value across each product triad.
• Assess delivery, team health, and growth trajectory, then translate findings into concrete actions.
• Maintain platform health, stability, and operational rigor; participate in the management on-call rotation and support hiring as the organization grows.

Requirements

• Extensive software engineering experience, typically 8+ years, with demonstrated technical depth.
• At least 3 years of formal engineering management experience, including management of Staff-level engineers.
• Strong individual contributor experience building software at scale, preferably with Elixir, Ruby, or TypeScript.
• Ability to evaluate technical decisions and communicate effectively with technical and business stakeholders.
• Experience as an engineer or manager during a period of rapid growth.
• Recent hands-on proficiency with AI-assisted coding tools and comfort defining processes in a fast-paced, high-ownership environment.

Nice to have

• Experience in fintech, marketplace platforms, or other regulated software environments.
• Experience driving AI adoption as a team-wide process change.
