Engineering Manager, QA (AI)

Location: Hybrid in Vancouver, BC, or remote from Canada or the United States

Salary: CA$165,000–CA$215,000 for Vancouver; CA$155,000–CA$210,000 for remote Canada; US$120,000–US$180,000 for remote United States, plus equity.

What you will do

• Lead, mentor, and develop a team of three QA engineers.
• Define and own the end-to-end QA strategy, including test planning, case design, reporting, and continuous improvement.
• Design and maintain automated test coverage for transaction, onboarding, and core platform workflows.
• Integrate automated testing into CI/CD pipelines and establish automated quality gates for every build.
• Partner with product and engineering to improve requirements testability and quality throughout the development lifecycle.
• Track defects, coverage, team performance, and release readiness; investigate production issues and coordinate root cause analysis.

Requirements

• 5+ years of software QA experience, including at least 2 years managing QA engineers.
• Experience defining and driving QA strategy and adapting QA practices to AI-assisted engineering workflows.
• Hands-on experience with Playwright, Cypress, Selenium, or equivalent test automation frameworks.
• Experience integrating automated tests into GitHub Actions, CircleCI, or similar CI/CD systems.
• Knowledge of functional, regression, integration, and end-to-end testing methodologies.
• Ability to produce clear test plans, test cases, and quality reports for technical and non-technical audiences.

Nice to have

• Experience with Copilot, Cursor, Claude Code, or similar AI coding assistants in engineering workflows.
• Background in fintech, marketplace platforms, or regulated software environments.
• Familiarity with performance testing, security testing, Postman, or REST-Assured.
• Experience working on small engineering teams with close QA and engineering collaboration.
