Manager, Engineering

Location: New York City office; working in the office is required 3 days per week on Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday.

Salary: $310,000–$385,000 per year, plus equity incentive and benefits.

What you will do

• Provide technical oversight and drive new features aligned with Garner’s strategic mission.
• Lead teams building data ingestion systems and new healthcare product experiences, including potential AI enhancements.
• Build a high-performing engineering team through mentoring, feedback, hiring, and talent retention.
• Maintain high quality and delivery speed while identifying bottlenecks, risks, mitigations, and tradeoffs.
• Partner with product, data, and design teams across disciplines.
• Protect user privacy and security through engineering best practices.

Requirements

• 6+ years of hands-on engineering experience translating ambiguous business requirements into scalable solutions and product features.
• 2+ years of experience managing engineering teams, including mentoring, motivating, and retaining engineering talent.
• Familiarity with web application development, API design, and AWS cloud infrastructure.
• Strong ownership and proactive problem-solving skills.
• Experience working in a rapidly evolving startup environment.
• Willingness to work from the New York City office three days per week.

Nice to have

• Experience with AI-enhanced product development.
• Experience with Python, TypeScript, React, NodeJS, Kubernetes, Istio, Postgres, ElasticSearch, NATS, Terraform, and AWS.
