Engineering Manager (Python/Django, React)

Location: San Francisco, United States; hybrid work model with in-office and remote flexibility

Salary: $220,000–$260,000 per year plus equity

What you will do

• Balance hands-on technical contribution with engineering people leadership as a player-coach.
• Lead, mentor, and grow individual contributors while fostering a supportive, high-performance environment.
• Partner with Product, Design, Operations, and engineering teams to deliver a robust member platform.
• Define and ensure timely delivery of complex, multidisciplinary, highly visible engineering projects.
• Drive architecture, design, product decisions, and end-to-end systems ownership across Python/Django backend and React frontend capabilities.
• Contribute to engineering-wide initiatives and communicate decisions from engineering teams to executive leadership.

Requirements

• 8–10+ years of software engineering experience, including at least 2+ years of management experience.
• Technical depth in architecture, system design, data modeling, and end-to-end systems ownership.
• Demonstrated experience operating as a player-coach while maintaining hands-on technical proficiency.
• Experience managing a team that has delivered a strong product with solid technical foundations.
• Organizational leadership experience, including collaboration with non-technical stakeholders and evaluation of trade-offs.
• Ability to encourage a healthy work environment that is both supportive and challenging.
