Senior Software Engineer (Java)

Location: Hybrid role requiring 3 days per week in the New York or San Francisco offices; employees must have permanent residency in an approved U.S. state. Remote work is available from approved U.S. states, with priority for candidates near the Bay Area, New York City, or Knoxville.

Salary: $149,600–$187,000 USD annually

What you will do

• Design, develop, and maintain user-centric interfaces and high-performance backend services.
• Build scalable APIs and business applications using modern software architecture practices.
• Collaborate with product and design teams to translate end-user requirements into effective interfaces and features.
• Optimize CI/CD pipelines and cloud infrastructure using AWS, Docker, and Kubernetes.
• Write, review, test, and document clean code using TDD, JUnit, and related frameworks.
• Mentor junior engineers and participate in Agile ceremonies and technical decision-making.

Requirements

• 5+ years of backend development experience with Java, Spring Boot, and system design.
• Experience building AWS solutions and managing GHA or Jenkins CI/CD pipelines with Docker and Kubernetes.
• Strong knowledge of RESTful APIs, microservices, data structures, algorithms, and software design principles.
• Hands-on experience with TDD, JUnit, RDBMS, Elasticsearch, and NoSQL databases.
• Experience with observability tools such as Datadog, CloudWatch, or OpenTelemetry, plus application security practices including OWASP and OAuth 2.0.
• Must be legally authorized to work for any employer in the United States; visa sponsorship and OPT/STEM extension support are not available.

Nice to have

• Experience developing healthcare-related products.
• Full-stack experience with React and Java/Spring Boot.
• Experience with WebSockets, Python, Kafka, SQS, or event-driven architectures.
