Lead Legal Counsel, Employment (EMEA)

What you will do

• Provide senior, practical employment-law advice across recruiting, onboarding, compensation, performance, leave, employee relations, organizational changes, separation, and post-employment matters.
• Advise People Business Partners, Team Member Relations partners, and business leaders on sensitive employee-relations concerns, investigations, litigation, and works council processes.
• Draft, review, maintain, and negotiate employment agreements, separation agreements, policies, templates, and related documentation across multiple jurisdictions.
• Advise on EMEA employment compliance, privacy requirements, team-member data, GDPR, and when local counsel is needed.
• Support disputes, tribunals, agency investigations, appeals, and contentious matters while managing outside and local counsel.
• Build scalable employment-law processes, systems, playbooks, templates, and training while mentoring legal colleagues and cross-functional partners.

Requirements

• Substantial experience advising a multinational company on employment matters across the full employment relationship, including work with works councils.
• JD, LLB, or local equivalent, with admission to an applicable governing body in an EMEA jurisdiction.
• Deep knowledge of employment compliance requirements across EMEA and experience identifying when local counsel is required.
• Experience with employment agreements, policies, separation agreements, investigations, litigation, disputes, tribunals, agency investigations, and outside-counsel matters.
• Familiarity with GDPR and local privacy requirements related to team-member data.
• Strong judgment, risk assessment, communication, relationship-building, and independent matter-management skills in a remote, asynchronous, globally distributed environment.
