Senior/Lead Software Engineer, Network Systems (C/C++/Python)

Location: Vancouver, BC, Canada

Base pay: CAD 120,000–195,000 per year across Canada, with potential discretionary bonuses and equity.

What you will do

• Design and build network systems features for switches and routers in collaboration with customers, product management, and hardware engineers.
• Develop and maintain software in C, C++, and Python for sensors, controllers, storage devices, FPGAs, NICs, and PCIe switches.
• Architect abstractions and software control interfaces for hardware drivers and system management utilities.
• Bring new hardware to market, from influencing hardware design through hardware bring-up and the full development cycle.
• Build automated tests and test infrastructure, troubleshoot system-test and customer-network issues, and deliver fixes.
• Provide technical leadership, own projects from definition to deployment, and mentor junior engineers.

Requirements

• BS with 8+ years of experience, MS with 6+ years, PhD with 3+ years, or equivalent work experience in computer science, electrical engineering, or computer engineering.
• Expert knowledge of C or C++ and Python.
• Knowledge of UNIX or Linux and applied software engineering principles.
• Hands-on experience designing and developing hardware device drivers and/or system management utilities.
• Strong problem-solving, troubleshooting, and independent implementation skills.
• Ability to work effectively in small teams.

Nice to have

• Understanding of IP networking or distributed systems.
• Experience working with low-level hardware components.
