Software Engineer, Networking & C/C++

Location: Sunnyvale, California, USA, or remote within the USA; hybrid work requires an average of 2 days per week from an HPE office.

Salary: $136,500–$276,500 annual base salary in California, plus possible variable incentives.

What you will do

• Architect and develop packet-forwarding features for PTX Series Routers.
• Implement IPv4/IPv6, MPLS, SRv6, multicast, GRE, LAG, and tunneling features.
• Translate packet-forwarding requirements from product line managers into implementations.
• Collaborate with test teams to qualify and deliver high-quality products.
• Engage with customers and participate in industry forums.
• Sustain and enhance existing packet-forwarding features.

Requirements

• BS degree in Computer Science or Electrical Engineering and at least 12 years of professional experience.
• At least 8 years of C programming experience and 3 years of C++ programming experience.
• Strong fundamentals in algorithms, data structures, operating systems, and computer science.
• Hands-on experience with Linux and Python.
• Ability to work effectively as part of a team.

Nice to have

• At least 3 years of packet-forwarding software development experience.
• Experience with L3 forwarding, MPLS, multicast, SRv6, SR/SR-TE, or tunneling features.
• At least 3 years of object-oriented C++ and Python development, including CoPilot development.
• MS degree in Computer Science or Electrical Engineering.
