Sr. Corporate Counsel - Privacy, Data Governance and AI | Hybrid, Kansas City

Location: Hybrid in Overland Park, Kansas, supporting the Kansas City area

What you will do

• Lead global legal programs for privacy, data governance, and artificial intelligence.
• Advise on U.S. and international privacy laws, including GDPR, CCPA/CPRA, U.S. state privacy laws, and HIPAA where applicable.
• Review and negotiate privacy, data protection, technology, vendor, partner, and commercial agreements.
• Support cross-border data transfers, data subject requests, regulatory inquiries, privacy incidents, and breach response.
• Develop enterprise policies for data classification, retention, deletion, ownership, stewardship, acceptable use, and lifecycle management.
• Guide AI product and use-case reviews, responsible AI frameworks, emerging AI legislation, and contractual provisions covering training data, ownership, confidentiality, transparency, and risk.

Requirements

• Juris Doctor degree from an accredited law school.
• Active license to practice law in at least one U.S. jurisdiction.
• 5+ years of legal experience focused on privacy, technology, cybersecurity, and/or data governance.
• Experience supporting cybersecurity, SaaS, cloud, or technology organizations.
• Deep knowledge of GDPR, CCPA/CPRA, U.S. state privacy laws, data processing agreements, and cross-border data transfers.
• Experience negotiating technology and commercial agreements and supporting cybersecurity incident response.

Nice to have

• Privacy certification such as CIPP/US, CIPP/E, CIPM, CIPT, or similar.
• Experience managing attorneys, paralegals, and other legal professionals.
